A dozen big Galapagos sharks, with even more Sandbar sharks, made for some exciting moments for us on the north shore of Oahu. I have always wanted to see the Galapagos and Sandbars up close. These were some of the best encounters I have had with these species. Whenever I have a close encounter with a novel specie of shark, I often appreciate something new. In this case, I did not know Sandbar sharks have a silver lining on the caudal (rear margin) aspect of the pectoral fin. Even better, my son Jack had his first pelagic shark dives. Not bad for age ten!
